Places to eat
A local legend — some travellers do overnight stops just to eat here.
Japanese restaurant on the wharf. Manz suggests a drink at the Sunset Bar first, then strolling over for dinner. Also great for breakfast.
Best spot for a drink
A short walk from the park — perfect sundowner spot.
Follow the footpath along the river from the park — a scenic 15-minute stroll.
Go-to swim spots
Right near the park — safe and easy for all ages.
Ideal for young kids — calm water, no big waves.
Great for a swim or snorkel. Note: Woody Head requires an NPWS pass (beach permit information below).
Favourite local walks
Don't miss the whale watching platform. Follow the path all the way to the breakwall for stunning views.
Best coffee spots
Coffee cart near the Golf Club — quick and popular with locals.
Sit-down coffee and a great breakfast.
Pet-friendly beaches
Iluka Main Beach — left of the breakwall, off-leash and perfect for pups.
Fishing tips
"I always send guests to the Bait & Tackle shop for expert local advice — but plenty of guests catch fish right from our pontoon!"
Favourite local shop
A little bit of everything — clothing, fishing gear, bait, and even boat hire.
Beach Access & Permits
National Parks
Some beaches, such as Wooli Beach, Ten Mile Beach, Woody Head, North Sandon, and Sandon Beach, require both a council permit and a National Parks and Wildlife Service pass.
